Rhinoplasty

STATE OF THE ART FACILITY

Loving your nose can be a journey, and it can also be an important factor in having high self-esteem. Noses come in all shapes and sizes, and no one nose is better than the others. However, for some people, the appearance of their nose can cause them continued emotional distress. For others, nose shape might be contributing to breathing problems. Whatever your reasons might be, if youā€™re looking to alter the shape of your nose to improve your life, TruForm Surgery is here to talk to you to determine if rhinoplasty is the right option.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that lets us alter the shape and appearance of the nose. This procedure can vary significantly depending on your desired results, but weā€™re able to work with skin, bone, and/or cartilage to give you desired results that work with the rest of your facial structure. Rhinoplasty is a comprehensive option that can address physical or mental discomfort due to the shape of the nose.

Who Is a Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

Not everyone is a good fit for rhinoplasty. Ideal candidates are generally in good health and either donā€™t smoke or are willing to stop smoking before and after the procedure. Ideal candidates will also be willing to work with us and discuss medical history and goals to make sure that they have reasonable expectations and donā€™t have any underlying conditions that would exempt them from this surgery.

What to Expect During a Rhinoplasty Procedure

Before the day of the procedure, we might ask you to undergo some physical examinations and have some photos taken to make sure that everything goes as smoothly as possible. Weā€™ll talk about risks and preparation with you beforehand so you can be informed and confident in your decision. Weā€™ll ask you to adjust or stop taking certain medications before and after the surgery to make sure that certain complications are prevented. You should also make sure that someone is ready to drive you home and keep you comfortable!

Every rhinoplasty is different, depending on the results youā€™re looking for, so weā€™ll thoroughly discuss what to expect during your consultation. Depending on what you want, weā€™ll make an incision either inside of your nose or externally. For certain rhinoplasty procedures, cartilage might be taken from other areas of the body so we can adjust the shape of your nose.

Rhinoplasty Aftercare

Make sure that youā€™re ready to take some down time after the procedure, since your body needs time to heal. You might need to limit activity for several weeks, and you should keep your head elevated when youā€™re resting. Weā€™ll talk to you about when to remove or change your bandages. Itā€™s not uncommon for some bleeding to occur during healing. Youā€™ll need to avoid disturbing the area for a while, which can mean going for a bath instead of a shower, being careful when brushing your teeth, and wearing clothes that can be removed easily. Youā€™ll also need to avoid wearing glasses that will put pressure on the nose. Weā€™ll give you a thorough recovery plan so you can heal at home and enjoy your results as quickly as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

How painful is a nose job?

Most patients experience relatively mild levels of pain. Most discomfort after your rhinoplasty treatment is due to congestion.

Do nose jobs age well?

Rhinoplasty results hold up exceptionally well. After your swelling has diminished, your results should look the same for years.

Why should I tape my nose after a rhinoplasty?

Taping your nose can ensure that your nose heals appropriately and minimizes the time needed for healing.

What issues can rhinoplasty address?

Rhinoplasty can address both cosmetic concerns such as nose size and shape and functional issues like breathing difficulties due to structural abnormalities.

How long does it take to see final results after rhinoplasty?

While initial swelling subsides within weeks, final results may take up to a year as subtle changes continue to occur.

What is the difference between open and closed rhinoplasty?

Open rhinoplasty involves an incision across the columella for better access to nasal structures, while closed rhinoplasty involves incisions within the nostrils.

Are there any non-surgical alternatives to rhinoplasty?

Non-surgical options include injectable fillers that can temporarily alter nose shape without surgery, though they cannot address functional issues and are not long lasting.

What should I expect during rhinoplasty recovery?

Recovery involves swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes for several days; most patients return to normal activities within two weeks but should avoid strenuous activities for several weeks.
