What Is a Facelift?
A facelift is a surgical procedure that lets us rejuvenate the face by reducing looseness or sagging, creating a tighter, fresher look. This can address several cosmetic concerns of the face, including skin folds and loose skin around the jaw. This treatment isnāt designed to treat wrinkles or other skin-related concerns, but it can tackle more substantial structural concerns.

Unfortunately, a facelift isnāt a good fit for everyone! This procedure is an option for patients who are looking to tighten the face after having lost elasticity. Ideal candidates should be in good health and should be willing to be open during consultation to make sure that their expectations are reasonable. Weāll go over your medical history to make sure that you donāt have any conditions that would make this procedure unsafe for you. Weāll also go over any general risks so you can make an informed decision.
What to Expect During a Facelift Procedure
Donāt worryāduring your consultation, weāll give you all the information you need so you can come to the surgery prepared. Weāll likely do an examination and take some pictures of your face. You might need to halt or alter certain medications youāre taking, especially blood thinners, to reduce the risk of any issues. Depending on the anesthesia youāre getting, you might need to stop eating for a set period of time before the surgery. Finally, make sure that someone is ready to drive you home and keep you comfortable.
Once youāve been given anesthesia so youāre comfortable, weāll go ahead and start the procedure. The type of incision we make will depend on the area weāre working on. After weāve made precise cuts, weāll raise the skin in the area to access the tissue underneath. We might remove or reposition fat, and weāll maneuver your tissue and muscle to give you a tighter look. After the adjustments have been made, weāll set your skin back in place and close the wounds. This procedure might take several hours to completeāperfection takes time!
Facelift Aftercare
Weāll give you a thorough recovery plan so youāll know how to clean and take care of the area, as well as how and when to replace or remove your bandages. Youāll need to be prepared to limit activity for several weeks after the procedure, and you should keep your head elevated, even during rest. Itās normal for patients to experience pain, drainage, and swelling after the surgery. Contact us if pain canāt be managed at home. Ice packs can also be used to manage pain and swelling at home. You might be given small tubes to help with drainage, which will be removed at a later time. Try to avoid unnecessary contact with the area while youāre healing, and follow our care plan to make sure you can heal smoothly and enjoy your results!
